About Me

Growing Up Talented was born from a passion that has probably always existed in me; seeing others learn and succeed.

My mom would tell me that I was always teaching adults Maths as a child (they probably already knew the answers), and my answer to “what do you want to be when you grow up?” was always “A teacher”. I didn’t become a teacher for various reasons, but I have tutored and mentored numerous students into great careers, and I thrive on this.

In 2014 I became a mother for the first time, and I believe that my purpose became clear to me through Zea’s birth.  My daughter is gifted in Reading and Language and it was apparent early on, but I guess the scientist in me needed proof. We enrolled her into state school, after choosing the best one we could find in our area, and it has been a journey of challenging and standing up for her needs since.

I decided to start this blog because I know every parent with a gifted child goes through the same questions, doubts etc and I would like this to be a space to help. If you’re not sure if your child is gifted or not, follow along on the journey of discovery anyway.

Please subscribe to receive new articles and send in topics you would like us to cover. Our mission is simple, to help as many children reach their maximum potential as we can by supporting parents through the journey.
